CCTV Cameras to Be Installed in Gurgaon

Within a time frame of six months, CCTV cameras will be installed in every sensitive 'spot' in Gurgaon. This would enable the police to keep a watch on these locations from their central control room, in comfort.

The Haryana Government plans to install 173 close-circuit cameras, in various locations which include the Gurgaon expressway, all the malls, multinational offices, railway stations, and bus stands.

The contract has been awarded to Zicom Security Systems and it is going to install cameras which not only have the 'pan' functionality (following an object, moving in a plane), but they also will have zoom and tilt functionality. The total cost of the project is around Rs. 8.5 Crores.

This surveillance system is not only meant for watching the movement of humans but will also be used to identify traffic signal violations. The surveillance systems can not only record vehicle registration plates, but also produce 'challans'. This plan is just the tip of the iceberg, as this camera surveillance system is just a minor part of a comprehensive electronic surveillance system that plans to install around 5,000 cameras across all NCR towns by the year 2010.
